It is a one stop shop for all the entertaining and funny bits of the web all rolled into one greasy internet snack. At Bacon Wrapped Media you can laugh, be inspired, and learn something new in a matter of a few minutes.

30,000 World War II Pictures, the Inauguration, and Diagrams

World War II Pictures in Color is a site that contains over 30,000 photographs from history's most devastating war. As the title of the site suggests, many of the pictures are in color. You can search using their search bar or browse by category. The site also contains discussion forum for people interested in sharing information or asking questions. They also sell the photographs from their site as well as other items such as posters and videos.  If you are a history teacher or are interested in World War II, then head on over and bookmark this great site.

Over a month ago I shared a You Tube Channel called Bad Lip Reading. They just came out with a new video from the recent Presidential Inauguration and the results are hilarious.I strongly encourage you to watch this video and if you enjoy it, take a look at the rest of their collection of funny videos.

Diagrammr is a very interesting site if you are looking for a simple way to create diagrams and charts. You can sign in using your Google account and then create your diagrams by writing sentences, which will put it into a simple diagram.

There is a short learning curve required as I found out when it took me about 5 minutes to work out the kinks and create the diagram below. Here are a few things to remember. (1)The sentences should be simple. (2) If you want to put more than one word in a box then put quotation marks around them. (3) Every word you type will show up

To give you a better idea of how to use Diagrammr, here is what I typed to create the chart you see above.
"George Washington" set precedents.
Precedents 1 "serving two terms"
Precedents 2 "using troops to enforce federal law"
Precedents 3 "creating a cabinet"

Notice that I started the second sentence with the last word of the first sentence. 

Diagrammr is really easy to use once you get the hang of it. Why not head over to their site and give it a try. This may be the easiest way to create a diagram.

History, Congress, and Funny laws

We humans are such creatures of habit. We tend to eat at the same restaurants, shop at the same stores, and visit the same websites. I am certainly guilty of being overly "brand loyal." My blog has really opened my eyes to how many amazing websites are out there on the world wide web. I really hope you have found some of the websites I share to be both useful and interesting.

First on the agenda is Congress.org. This website provides daily coverage of issues being discussed by Congress. It provides news and information while making it easy for citizens to find out how their elected officials are voting. If you are unhappy with the direction of our country then start visiting this site and become a more active citizen.

Next is History Pin, an online collection of photographs, videos, audio files, and text that have been shared by people from around the world. Their tag line is "a global community collaborating around history." Users can post their documents or search a map to find things in their area or search by collection, channel, and project. This site is great for educators as well as anyone interested in history.

Last is the lighter side of the law from Lawyers.com. This collection has pages of dumb criminals, kooky court cases, and crazy laws that are sure to entertain. No matter how you feel about Lawyers, you will most likely enjoy these stories from the funny side of the law.

Simple Toys for Bad Lips?

Up first today is Innovatoys, a really cool site that sells unique gadget toys for kids and adults. If you are a fan of science then this site is a a dream come true. With toys categories such as optical illusions, nature, lights, and gadgets, there is a large array of science based educational toys to choose from. While it's too late for Christmas, there are still birthdays to shop for, so why not check it out.

Next is Simple booklet, a site where you can create sleek and professional digital publications. You can create digital brochures, booklets, flyers, or product guides and then embed them into websites, blogs, Facebook, or send them in an email. There is a free option but your booklet will come with ads and a Simple Booklet watermark. Educators can get 10 free publications per year without watermarks or advertising. Simple Booklet could be a great tool for teachers or those with a small business.

Last is a hilarious You Tube Channel called Bad Lip Reading. The creators of these videos dubs over movies, TV shows, music videos, stories from the news and politics. The dubbing is funny and nonsensical but it matches the lip movements of the people on the screen. The effect is very funny as you can see in the Hunger Games video below.

Happy Thanksgiving

I spent a little time looking up Thanksgiving resources and was overwhelmed by the amount of Thanksgiving recipes and food related websites. Since finding food related web pages is so easy, I decided to share a collection of Thanksgiving resources that are unrelated to recipes and cooking.

Some of my fondest memories as a child were the Charlie Brown specials that aired around holidays. While I wouldn't put Charlie Brown Thanksgiving in the same league as the Christmas and Halloween episodes it is still worth watching and is a reminder of simpler times.

Outside of food and family, there are few things that define Thanksgiving more than the Macy's parade. For over 85 years, watching this parade has become a tradition is homes around the country. ABC News has a slideshow with pictures from the parade dating back to 1924. This site also has some interesting vintage pictures from the parade.

For the kids out there there is Kaboose, which has Thanksgiving games and coloring pages. There are more games and activities at Primary Games.

If Thanksgiving stresses you out and you need to lighten your spirits perhaps these humor sites are the right prescription for you. First there is this Photobucket collection of 538 funny Thanksgiving themed pictures.
If that doesn't do the trick how about these 9 Thanksgiving quotes from well known comedians. Perhaps you'd like to learn a good Thanksgiving joke to tell at the table, you will find many choices here. This Oatmeal comic features the differences in the way kids and adults perceive Thanksgiving (Vulgar language warning!)

The Sexy Pilgrim by Muscle Milk This isn't the Pilgrim story I remember. This humorous singing Pilgrim says "you're welcome"

This Jennie-o Commercial is flat out funny.

Then there is this skit from the classic 90's show In Living Color, where Anton Jackson joins a "proper" society group for Thanksgiving dinner. Chaos ensues. Recognize Jim Carrey and Damon Wayans?
