All Things Cooking Infographic Collection

Soda Pic is a blog that likes to share cool things they find on the web. While there are many great things to be found on their blog I really liked this collection of 22 infographics that contain just about anything you need to know about cooking. Conversion charts, cooking utensil information, proper cooking times, spices, meat cuts, barbecuing, cooking methods, and the list goes on. This collection of infographics contains enough information to conduct a beginning level cooking class only you aren't paying a dime. If you teach cooking at any level, you will want to add this page to your web page for your students to access. If you enjoy cooking, or know someone who does, you will want to share Soda Pic's cooking infographic collection. 

Three resources to discover new and interesting Infographics

Infographics are such a cool way to share information. A well done infographic can communicate so much information in such a short time but finding good ones can sometimes be a challenge. Well search no more as I have three excellent resources to assist you in discovering new and interesting infographics.

The Infographic Directory, by David Eaves, offers a large collection of infographics found on the web. Infographics are a growing way to communicate information is a visually appealing way. You can scroll through each page, use the search bar, or select from the categories listed on the right hand side of the site. Even though this site is less than a year old, it has an extensive collection of infographics for you to enjoy.

Daily Infographic is a website that features the best and most dynamic infographics found on the world wide web. If you are searching for an infographic about a specific topic then this website can help you as well. You can use their search bar or just select the category that interests you and they will more than likely have the infographic you were looking for. If you really enjoy their site then you can subscribe to their site and have daily infographics emailed to you.

Civil War, Beautiful Pictures, and Infographics

The America Civil War is one of the most fascinating and yet tragic events in our history. It was the first American war to be photographed and many of those pictures can be found here at the American Civil War Photo Gallery. There are over 1400 photographs of the people, places, and events of this tragic war. The site has 20 photo albums and most contain dozens on up to hundreds of Civil War pictures. If you teach American history or are just interested in the Civil War, bookmark this site today.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, then this next website is a site to behold. Beauty in Everything is a site that features hundreds of photographs from Flickr. The subject matter of the photographs is widely varied and consists of people, animals, landscapes, nature, objects, cities and just about anything else. You can scroll through pages of beautiful photographs from today, yesterday, or go to their calendar and pick a date. You are sure to find many pictures that appeal to your sense of beauty.

Trading Cards, Fakebook, and Infographics... oh my!

Today's first resource, a trading card maker, comes from one of the best education websites out there called Read, Write, Think. This cool educational tool allows students to demonstrate knowledge by creating a trading card based on a person (real or fictional), a place, a thing, event, or idea. Go here if you would like to know more about this website.

Another way students can demonstrate knowledge is through the creation of a Fakebook profile from the Cooltools.net website. The site takes you through the process and finished profiles are automatically added to their gallery which can be viewed here. The gallery is a great place for teachers and students to get ideas.

The final resource  is a collection of over 500 infographics that have been put together on a Pinterest board by Randy Krum. This gallery was first brought to my attention on Richard Byrne's Free Technology for Teachers blog (which I strongly recommend) and it features infographics on a wide array of topics.

Website hoarding

I have a confession. I am a website hoarder. I am addicted to finding new and useful websites but the problem is that I don't have time to explore them all so I store them in my Evernote account to view at a future date. As of this post, I have 659 "notes", which includes some infographics and blog posts but the majority are websites that I intend to use someday. The purpose of this post isn't for therapy reason but to explain how easy it is to find great websites.

I began my website hoarding addiction with Delicious. I would search the "favorited" websites of other users and was amazed at how easy it was to locate websites that interested me. The next tool I discovered was Stumble Upon. I would spend hours "stumbling" the web and I came across many amazing pictures, blogs, and websites. One site I "stumbled on" was Make Use Of which features a "Daily Cool websites" section. I subscribed to this feature and began to get  recommendation sent to my email. Later, a coworker of mine introduced me to Diigo Education which I have subscribed to and I get excellent resources shared by other educators.

Along the way I have discovered a wide array of blogs such as Richard Byrne's Free Technology for Teachers, and Larry Ferlazzo's Website of the Day to name just two. Occasionally, I will get time to seriously browse some web sites but for the most part my collections keeps growing. My latest source for website collecting has been Twitter. Now all the websites I used to visit are sending their discoveries to me  via Twitter. It makes being a website hoarder so much easier.

I don't recommend anyone become a website collector like me but if you are interested in finding new resources on the web don't bother with Google. Try one of the sites I recommended above and you be amazed at how much great stuff is out there.
