Retronaut - a website for people who love history.

It would be great if there was a go to website for old magazines, photographs, posters, postcards, and other material from the past. I would love it if there was a website that shared memories and pictures by decade and by topic. This website does exist and it is called Retronaut! Retronaut is a website for people who love history. Not only that, it is a website for nostalgic people to relive fond childhood memories. Retronaut is one part history site and one part social media site. Much of the content is uploaded by the sites members and membership is free. At Retronaut, you can browse pictures from past decades and even past centuries. The site is searchable by decade, by topic and by search bar. Whether you love history or just like reminiscing about the past, Retronaut is a site you should check out. Be careful, you may end up spending hours of your day browsing all there is to see. Don't say you weren't warned.

Opening Themes TV - Watch your favorite opening TV themes

About a month ago I shared Television Tunes, a website that allowed you to listen to the opening theme songs from old television show. Opening Themes TV is a new website that goes one step further because it contains a huge library of show openings on video. With this site you can watch the openings of your favorite shows from the 1950's on up to the 2000's. You start by clicking on the decade and then the TV shows are sorted alphabetically. Many of the videos contain detailed descriptions about the show so viewers can get some background knowledge. While Opening Themes TV is a great way for adults to get nostalgic, teachers could actually use it to demonstrate how societies change over time by comparing television shows from different decades. Digital Comic Museum

I was a comic book collector when I was younger so this site appealed to me personally. The Digital Comic Museum is a collection of comics from the "Golden Age of Comics" (1930's-1950's) that are now "public domain and have been put up on the net. For those of you who were around at the time, you will feel nostalgia as you look through this extensive collection of comics. Comic book collectors have the ability to read these classic comics without having to pay the huge price tag of owning them. Finally, the Digital Comic Museum has educational value because it provides a snapshot into American culture of the time. These comics were published during World War II as well as the earliest days of the Cold War so there is plenty of propaganda to be found for the social studies teachers out there.
